About our school
Since 1807, the Royal Atheneum of Antwerp has stood for quality and tradition.
Our learning programme is based on the Pedagogical Project of the GO! Education of the Flemish Community.

- In our first grade we focus on talent development. In addition to a broad basic education, we offer space to explore, strengthen and deepen. Together with you, we look for your talents and interests, so that you can make the right study choices afterwards.
- In the second and third grades, we offer you a wide range of courses. Here, you can choose a direction that best suits your abilities and prepares you for higher education or employment.
At our school we strive for ‘active global citizenship and reciprocity’ in human relations.
We stand for education with an eye for mutual respect for different cultures and personalities.
Creating a warm school climate together
DISCOVER OUR FIRST GRADE!
When you enter the first year at our school, you are not only offered familiar subjects such as Dutch, French, mathematics,… We also appeal to your other specific talents. We make the transition to secondary education as smooth as possible and try to create a warm classroom and school climate through cross-curricular project days/weeks.
In the first year, the pupils receive a basic package of 27 class periods. The remaining 5 hours are used to explore by means of modules (4h) and to strengthen and deepen by means of a “leeratelier” (1h).
We offer our pupils the choice between 3 different modules and try to discover and develop their talents:
- Talentenreis (discovering your talents) module
- STEAM module
- Latin module
